The Election Office in American Samoa is reminding candidates running in the general elections in November that there are limitations for all campaign-related monetary contributions.
Local law states that maximum permissible contributions is 2,000 US dollars from businesses and organisations and 500 from individuals.
The deputy election officer, Filiva'a Mageo, says candidates are required under law to file the necessary reports with the Election Spending Commission.
There are reports that some candidates have already send out letters to friends, families and acquaintances asking for financial assistance.
