Mexican fishing boat suvivors to leave Marshalls tonight

The three Mexican fishermen who survived 295 days at sea after leaving San Blas, Mexico on October 28th last year. will leave Majuro tonight on their way home.

They arrived in the Marshall Islands yesterday after being rescued by a Majuro-based fishing boat and were immediately taken to the island's hospital for evaluation.

A Marshall Islands Foreign Ministry spokesman says all three are fine, their only problem being that their feet are badly swollen and they are unable to wear shoes.

The deputy head of Mexico¹s New Zealand Embassy, who flew to Majuro, has provided them with new passports and an official from the Foreign Ministry in Mexico, will escort the trio home.
