The Director of Medical Services at American Samoa's LBJ Hospital officially completes his service next Thursday, but will remain at the hospital as a physician.
Dr Iotamo Saleapaga was told last week that his contract as Director would not be renewed when it ended next week.
Dr Saleapaga will retain his current salary and benefits.
He says he has no hard feelings against the board and their decision not to renew his contract.
He says he has received apologies from the outgoing and incoming CEO's and the Chief Financial Officer over the way he was notified of the board's decision.
Dr Saleapaga says he has signed a two-year contract as a physician so he may continue to serve the community.
