Goodman Fielder expands in Pacific

The Goodman Fielder company is keen to expand its businesses further in the Pacific region.

The company has businesses in Fiji, Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia and it's chief executive, Peter Margin, has reported a group after tax profit of 164 million US dollars.

That's about 4.5 percent higher that the figure in its prospectus last December, on sales revenue totalling 2 billion US dollars.

Total sales within the Pacific region were valued at 150 million US dollars with earnings before interest and tax amounting to 22 million US dollars.

The PNG newspaper, The National, reports Mr Margin as saying his group is looking for acquisitions in the Pacific region.

The company's PNG businesses include Flame Flour, snack foods and bakery operations, while In Fiji it has poultry, snack foods, ice creams and feed mill operations.

In New Caledonia, its businesses include flour, snack foods, spreads and stock feed.
