The Australian-based 19-year old, Marika Batibasaga started his defence of
the Fiji Open golf title with a sizzling 3-under 69 in the opening round in Suva yesterday.
Batibasaga sank an eagle at the par 5 number nine and never looked back as he lead the amateur field by 3 strokes.
New Zealand based Neelkash Ram is in second place with 72.
Australia's Elliot Booth leads the professional section by one stroke after carding a two under par 69.
Local golfer Taitusi Vunidakua is one stroke back in second.
