Disney talent scouts hire Samoa fire knife dancers

9:42 am on 6 September 2006

Talent scouts from Disneyland were in Apia during the weekend to watch the finals of an annual fire knife dance competition.

The A Samoan online news service reports that Disneyland is keen to recruit Samoan fire knife dancers for one of their theme parks.

The scouts said they were very impressed by what they had seen and would be recruiting some of the top fireknife dancers for their Hong Kong theme park.

The fire knife dance was created by the late Olo Letuli of American Samoa in Hollywood in the 1960's.
