Miss Samoa hands in crown after arguments over eligibility

Samoa's beauty pageant winner, Pearl Macfall, has handed over her crown to the Acting Prime Minister, Misa Telefoni, after a row about her eligibility

The decision came ahead of a special meeting this week of the pageant' s sub-committee to discuss allegations from the mother of the Miss Samoa New Zealand, Iuni Sapolu.

She had threatened legal action after claims the winning contestant was not qualified to be the next Miss Samoa 2006/2007 because she was too young.

The Deputy Prime Minister says the crown will now be handed to the contestant who was the first runner up.
