The government Northern Marianas says it will allow some non-United States citizens to operate small businesses in the territory.

There are over 30,000 non-US citizens in the Northern Marianas, and many wanted to start their own business but could not do so due to their immigration status.

The Attorney General's Office adopted amendments to the immigration regulations, allowing some people to run a small business in their field of expertise.

Attorney General, Matthew Gregory, says the amendment is necessary to spur economic growth and innovation.
