There is a call in American Samoa for the government to set up a programme to promote the territory's musical talents, so they can be exported.
The governor, Togiola Tulafono, says he has received a request and will look into the idea.
The governor says the government has been focusing attention on the promotion of sporting talent because it brings scholarships and a lot of rewards for local students.
But he says little has historically been done to promote musical talent despite Samoans being famous for their good singing voices.
