Disaster authorities in Fiji have gone on alert as flood waters rise after two days of heavy rain.
Many homes in low lying areas, in particular in squatter settlements on marginal land, are covered with flood waters.
Some people sought shelter on their roofs while others fled or had to be rescued.
Some major roads around the capital Suva were also flooded because of poor drainage, disrupting traffic.
The Fiji Weather Centre has warned of more heavy rain over the weekend and more flooding.
