The New Zealand prime minister says she could cancel her trip to the Pacific Islands Forum next week because of the political situation in Fiji.
Helen Clark says she understands there have been direct threats to the government by the Fiji military, to either drop contentious legislation or resign.
She says she's concerned about the atmosphere in Fiji and doesn't want to be caught up in anything.
"At the moment, the advise is not to pull out but when these threats are made and when they get the level of exposure they now have in the Fiji media one is bound to go back and ask again."
Helen Clark says she is keeping a day-by-day watch on the situation and has asked for the security arrangements for the New Zealand delegation to be reviewed.
