Samoa's Electric Power Corporation says it has only a month's supply of coconut oil left.
The corporation has been using coconut oil as a supplementary fuel for power generators and for its motor vehicle fleet.
The EPCs acting general manager Galumalemana Tologata told SBC ONE TV that they are in talks
with other Pacific countries to get coconut oil at an affordable price, after Samoa's sole coconut oil mill shut down its operation several months ago.
Galumalemana Tologata says if the experiment with coconut oil is successful, the plan is to power all of the government fleet and generators with the coconut oil diesel mix.
