The Papua New Guinea Mining Minister Sam Akoitai has advised against ending Frontier's mineral exploration license in the Kokoda region.
The Post Courier newspaper says calls to cancel the license came from Australian concerns that it will damage the Kokoda track.
Mr Akoitai said the track was not in any immediate danger.
