American Samoa's congressional candidate, Aumua Amata Coleman, has received an endorsement from US President George Bush in her bid to unseat Democrat Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin.

Amata joined a conference call with the president and Republican candidates running for Congress in next week's mid-term elections.

President Bush has given endorsements for Amata in previous elections.

Amata had served as a commissioner on President Bush's Asian and Pacific Islander Commission.

She said she values the President's support and believes that if she's elected her ties to the White House would be beneficial to American Samoa.
