Federal tax credits for American Samoa canneries to be discussed next week

11:25 am on 7 November 2006

American Samoa's delegate Faleomavaega Eni says the federal tax credits to benefit the canneries in the territory will be taken up by Congress after next week's general elections in the United States.

Faleomavaega made the statement on radio, where he thanked cannery workers and their management team for supporting his efforts in getting the tax credit extended.

Faleomavaega is seeking re-election on Tuesday.

The canneries Samoa Packing and Star Kist Samoa are the territory's largest private employers.
