Fiji's prime minister, Laisenia Qarase, has called on the country's military and its police force to make peace.
Mr Qarase has told the Sunday Post the conflict between the army and the police is putting national security at risk, adding that the two security forces need to work together for the sake of the nation.
The prime minister's call comes amid police investigations into the army's removal of a consignment of seven and half tones of ammunition from Suva wharf on its arrival from South Korea last week.
The police commissioner, Andrew Hughes, has also said that Commodore Bainimarama is under investigation for alleged seditious statements against the government.
The military has demanded Mr Hughes' resignation, with the commander, Commodore Bainimarama, saying the commissioner has been acting outside his constitutional powers.
Mr Qarase says the sooner the heads of the security forces sort out their differences, the better for everybody.
