The Solomon Islands prime minister says the review of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands is driven by local laws and not necessarily by recommendation by the Forum Islands countries.
Manasseh Sogavare made the comment in response to what he describes as misconstrued reporting by the international media, which view the events in Solomon Islands as spearheaded largely by Forum countries.
Mr Sogavare says the international media always portray an image that the main actors is the Pacific Islands Forum through RAMSI and headed by Australia rather than his government.
He says this line of thinking has adverse effects on the national and international conduct of the government of the day, and has contributed to unknown and indirect setbacks that the country is currently experiencing.
The Prime Minister says the most important aspect of the RAMSI review is the plan submitted by the Solomon Islands government, in which Forum leaders have agreed to set up a task force to carry out the review.
