A Rota lawmaker Representative Crispin Ogo is pushing for his island's capital improvement funds to be earmarked for a pilot windmill project, to generate power.

He said that Rota has about 28 million US dollars in federal funds for infrastructure projects.

Representative Ogo said that at least 4 million US dollars of these funds can be redirected to a windmill project which would reduce power rates for Rota residents.

He told the Saipan Tribune newspaper that the Fitial administration supported his proposal.
