Pacific Islands assistant rugby coach says team will step up play

The Pacific Islands Rugby Union back line assistant coach, is confident the side will step up to the mark against one of the stronger home nations they've faced on their short European tour.

Former All Black Shane Howarth says the starts have been disappointing given the team has conceded 32 points in the first half of their losses to Scotland and Wales.

Howarth says while he knows PIRA will have a positive game, it's the first half that's a concern at the moment.

"Tell you what just to be in contention at half-time would be great, I think the Irish have made a few changes, and you know they're a very good side. we've got to respect that, but sooner or later we're going to click."
