The Solomon Islands government is working on a deal with the University of the South Pacific to fast track the establishment of a USP campus in Solomon Islands.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Barnabas Anga, says the government maintains its commitment to the campus proposal because it appreciates its importance and benefits to the country.
He says the Education Ministry has allocated 2.5 million US dollars to fund the process of setting up the campus.
Mr Anga says this pledge shows to the USP the Solomon Islands government's commitment to host a fourth campus.
Solomon Islands has the second largest number of students at the USP.
