Tolukuma Gold Mine Limited in Papua New Guinea has been dealt a major blow to its gold production targets because of damage to one of its mills.

The Emperor Mine company stopped production at the Tolukuma mine on Saturday, and the SAG mill will remain shut until the damage is investigated and repaired.

The Post Courier reports the mill is responsible for stripping gold from other minerals.

Emperor Mines said specialist engineers have advised that it may take up to three weeks to repair the damage.
