The American Samoan Director of Education, Malaetele Dr. Lui Tuitele is retiring.
Malaetele was placed on leave by the governor after discrepancies surfaced in the issuance of paychecks to the assistant Director for the Elementary Division.
Malaetele has confirmed that he has retired and informed the Governor Togiola Tulafono of his decision.
