Fiji's prime minister says the government still has the overwhelming support of the Fijian people, despite moves by the military to take over the country.
The military has set up road blocks around the capital, Suva, and seized control of all police weapons.
The Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase, says seizing the weapons was illegal.
He says the government will carry out its work as usual today, knowing that 90 per cent of the public support it.
