The police in Samoa have charged an independent MP, Lealailepule Rimoni Aiafi, with the assault of a local United Nations Development Programmes (UNDP) woman employee.
Police did not want to release information's of the alleged assault but a source says the incident took place in a local night club early this month.
The charge against the MP was heard in the district court yesterday and has been adjourned to Tuesday next week without a plea.
Lealailepule is awaiting sentence on a separate case where he is facing one count of theft as a servant when he was manager of the government's Airport Authority.
