The Fijian interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama has made a number of commitments after he was sworn in by the restored former President Ratu Josefa Iloilo in Suva yesterday.
The Commodore's apointment cements his control over Fiji, giving him the authority to nominate new ministers in Fiji's caretaker government.
He says the military personnel who helped to overthrow the elected government of Laisenia Qarase on the fifth of December in a bloodless coup won't benefit from his appointment, and made a commitment to the people of Fiji.
"To ensure more benefits flow to the ordinary indigenous Fijians; to eradicate systematic corruption by including the setting up of an anti-corruption unit and setting new standards of governmental and institutional transparency (and) to improve our relations with our neighbours and the international community."
