American Samoa Governor Togiola Tulafono is undergoing medical treatment in Honolulu for a kidney stone.

Last week, the Governor was admitted to the LBJ hospital after experiencing excruciating pain from a kidney stone.

After treatment to relieve the pain and provide comfort, the governor went home but was readmitted the following day for more treatment.

Doctors recommended that he seek further treatment in Honolulu.

The governor says in a statement that he wishes the Territory to know that he is following the doctors' recommendations.

He says his condition is not life threatening and thanks the people of American Samoa for their concerns and good wishes.

Togiola hopes to return home after treatment in a week.

In his absence, Togiola says Lt. Governor Ipulasi Aitofele Sunia will assume responsibilities and management of all government affairs.
