American Samoa government to ban smoking on commercial buses

The government in American Samoa plans to propose a bill that would ban smoking in all commercial buses.

Acting Governor Ipulasi A. Sunia says the bill will be submitted during the current legislative session that opened yesterday.

He says the measure is the result of a call from a mother during the governor's weekend radio programme several weeks ago.

The caller described the physical pain and symptoms that she has to endure because of people who smoke in buses.

Ipulasi says the bill will improve the health of the public who use commercial transport.
