Fiji's interim administration has stressed that the State of Emergency Decree enforced since December 5th 2006, remains in force.

In a press conference, the interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum revealed that he met with Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama and members of the RFMF and Fiji Police Force this morning and was briefed on the state of security in the country.

He says Fiji is still on high alert as far as national security is concerned.

Mr Khaiyum said the military and police are carrying out assessments, as a number of weapons are still unaccounted for since the 2000 coup, and that there are groups who may be planning to destablise the nation.
