Solomon islands Meteorological Services had issued an advisory of a possible severe water shortage.
Director of Solomon Islands Met Services, Shanel Iroi, says the forecast is for a lower than average rainfall in the first three months of 2007.
He says the low rainfall can be blamed on El Nino, which will see heavier rainfall in other Pacific island countries such as Samoa, Cook Islands,Kiribati and Tonga.
The Solomon Isalnds Broadcasting Corporation quotes Mr Iroi as saying water suppliers should now plan water rationing in case a severe water shortage.
