The opposition group in the Solomon Islands is urging the government to let a PNG Defence force team looking into Julian Moti's escape from Port Moresby, to carry out interviews in Honiara.
The Foreign Affairs minister, Patteson Oti, has blocked a visit by members of a team investigating the use of a military plane to allow Mr Moti to leave while on bail.
The opposition Leader, Fred Fono, says the PNG inquiry should be allowed into Honiara under the spirit of co-operation of the Melanesian Spearhead Group.
He believes senior local figures are concerned about what the group might find out:
"We believe the whole thing is a cover-up to stop the inquiry coming to Honiara and where it could unveil or expose some of our leaders who were involved in the whole Julian Moti saga."
