American Samoan media asked to report accurately

1:59 pm on 2 February 2007

There's been a call from American Samoa Senator Fiatauiaulava Sauni to President Lolo Moliga to review legislative policies regarding media coverage of Senate matters.

Senator Fiatauiaulava says while the media is protected under law, there have been several times when the media reports differ to what actually occurs in the Senate.

The call came after Senator Tuaolo M. Fruean said he was disappointed with recent media reports because he was misquoted.

Tuaolo did not identify the news organisation that made the alleged error but urged journalists to report correctly what Senators say in chambers.

Lolo says his office will look into the senators' concerns and reminded reporters of their duties to report accurately.
