Second by-election gives Samoan doctor seat

A Samoan doctor has won the Faasaleleaga No 2 seat in the third election there in less than a year.

Papalii Memea Samuelu Petaia received 384 ballots to defeat five other candidates.

The winner of the March 2006 general elections Letoa Pau Sefo was found guilty of bribery.

The subsequentby-election was won by his daughter, Letoa Rita , who also was found guilty of bribery.

Papalii was also a candidate in the last two elections.

Papalii is the owner of the first private medical clinic to be opened in Savaii.
