Fiji is denying New Zealand officials have been banned from visiting the country.

Reports last week said Helen Clark's name appears on a Fiji Immigration Department list of people barred from entering Fiji.

But Fiji's new military-appointed Immigration Director, Viliame Naupoto, says no New Zealanders are on the list which bans some Fiji citizens from leaving the country.

New Zealand placed its own ban on offIcials from Fiji following the military coup in December.

A spokesperson for the foreign minister Winston Peters says the news makes no difference as Mr Peters will only travel to Fiji if invited to hold discussions on a return to democracy.
