A prominent Tonga democracy politician, MP Akilisi Pohiva, says the government should hold a referendum to find out what form of government the people want.
Mr Pohiva says he was suprised at yesterday's verbal attack on him by the government which called him isolated and confused and the leader of a radical minority.
He says in fact the majority back his ideas and the prime minister, Dr Feleti Sevele, should ask the people what they want.
"He should carry out a survey just to find out the will of the people, that is what the government should have done. But for the prime minister to say that only a minority in Tonga is supporting myself and the movement is not true, is not correct."
