The young Auckland tennis player Kairangi Vano has been beaten in the final of the ITF Futures event in Wellington.
17-year-old Vano of Cook Islands origin and a wildcard was beaten by the unseeded Hong Kong player Ling Zhang 6-1, 6-1.
Kyu-Tae Im of Korea won the men's final.
The circuit heads to Hamilton this week.
