Asiana Airlines purchase a landmark deal for CNMI

The Northern Marianas Visitor Authority is optimistic about the growth of the Korean tourism market in the CNMI.

The recent acquisition of LaoLao Bay Golf Resort by Kumho Asiana - the parent company of Asiana Airlines - is one of the largest tourism investments in recent years.

Apart from rehabilitating and improving the course itself to bring it up to international competition standards, the new owners will develop up to 120 high-end villas, a clubhouse and cafe.

Governor Benigno Fitial told the Saipan Tribune newspaper it is a milestone in the CNMI's economic recovery.

Recent tourism statistics from the Authority shows that Korean arrivals to the Commonwealth is on the rise.
