The government in the autonomous Papua New Guinea province of Bougainville says it intends giving people at village level more say in how development funding is spent.
It says this year the delivery of services to the people of Bougainville is the priority.
The acting vice president of the ABG, Taehu Pais, says to achieve this the government is taking a bottom up approach.
He says this will allow villagers, in consultation with their chiefs, to identify what they want within the core areas of health, education and infrastructure development.
"There are monies specifically for health centres and for supply of medical drugs, that's on the health sector; education - meaning what we can supply to the schools that during the last 15 years have not been attended to due to road infrastructure not reaching out or by way of law and order which we are improving at the present stage."
