The mother of a Fiji youth who died from injuries sustained after an alleged beating from soldiers is considering court action.

Alanieta Rabaka says she has not been informed by either the military or the police into whether they are making progress into the circumstances surrounding the death of her 19 year old son, Sakiusa.

He and two friends were detained by six soldiers and a police officer in Nadi in January and died from head injuries.

Ms Rabaka says she is giving the police until the end of the month to inform her whether they are close to laying charges, otherwise she may take the matter to court.

"We cannot wait any longer for them to investigate because it is just a simple case. They know who the army officers are that beat up my son and they just have to take them to court or deal with them in their way."
