The deputy commander of the Fiji Military, Captain Esala Teleni, has warned public servants they could be sent home if they go on strike against the pay cut enforced by the interim regime.
Capt Teleni told the fijilive website that if trade unions want to go on strike they can do so.
But he says if they go on strike they will never come back to work and go for good.
Capt Teleni says the military will intervene if the strike goes ahead.
The interim prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, earlier this week said the civil servants couldn't afford to get a pay rise.
He said the pay cut was necessary to stabilise the government's finances.
Two main public sector unions have voted overwhelmingly for strike action.
They have said the right to strike is in the constitution which the military has said it will uphold.
