Staff at the Solomon Islands College of Higher Education say they will continue to push for the director to step down despite the matter being referred to the Trade Dispute Panel.
A sit-in protest had been planned for today but the president of one of the staff unions, Duddley Hoala, says they were warned by management there would be consequences if it went ahead.
Mr Hoala says the staff is concerned about the general abuse of process and authority by the director, Gabriel Taloikwai.
He says one of the issues was the way in which one of two expatriate technical advisers behaved.
"It's the attitude of the one of the T.A's (technical adviser) which is not matching to the culture, threatening staff, using abusive languages, etc. The association has been submitting their concerns but then the director take it, and then, it didn't go further than that so it becomes a blown up issue."
Mr Hoala says the college council ruled that the two technical advisers be asked to leave but referred the issue of the director to the Trade Dispute Panel.
The advisers are involved in a review and re-organisation of the college.
