The England based Fijian netball player Alanieta Mailulu has signed a contract to play for an English Super League franchise side.

The lanky goal shooter is the first Fijian to play in the English competition, and will turnout for the Team Northumbria.

The 25-year old made her international debut for Fiji at the 1999 World Championships in Christchurch, emerging as the third-best shooter in the world.

Mailulu says her stint with the Team Northumbria will add depth in her play as she expects to be picked in the Fiji squad to the World Championships in New Zealand.
