The Samoan government is to sign an economic and technological co-operation agreement with China when a large Chinese delegation arrives in Apia later today.

There is a 53 strong group visiting, which is headed by a top official, Chang Chun Lee, one of the members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party.

The Chinese Embassy office in Apia says Mr. Lee will hand over one million US dollars for the renovation of the Apia park stadium for the up-coming South Pacific games in August.

Our correspondent, Autagavaia Tipi Autagavaia, says there will also be discussions.

"Basically, talks are on economic and technological co-operation agreement between Samoa and China. And, also some documents will be signed between the prime minister and Mr Lee about Chinese aid for Samoa this year."

Autagavaia says the Chinese delegation is also expected to discuss the construction of an MPs' building housing their offices, a new Lands and Titles Courthouse, and also the Justice department.
