Fiji police have interviewed six soldiers in connection with the death in February of a 19-year old Nadi youth, Sakiusa Rabaka.

The acting police commissioner, Romanu Tikotikoca, has told Fiji TV the interviews took place in Nadi last weekend.

The soldiers were released to the police for questioning following a military board of inquiry into Rabaka's death.

Rabaka died from injuries he allegedly suffered at the hands of the six soldiers and a police officer when he was detained on suspicion of drug offences in January.

The police officer was interviewed earlier.

Mr Tikotikoca says the files of the interviews will be sent to the director of public prosecutions to determine whether charges should be laid.

He says a soldier suspected of being implicated in the death of 44-year old Tailevu villager in early January will also be interviewed in the next few days.
