The Samoa and American Samoa police are joining forces to better combat the smuggling of drugs between the two countries.
Human trafficking and weapons smuggling will also be on the agenda when a group including Samoa's Police Minister and Police Commissioner will meet American Samoa's Commissioner of Public Safety next week.
The Samoan Police Commissioner, Papali'i Lorenese Neru, says drug smuggling has been on the increase and next week's meeting will be one of the most important talks between the two police groups.
"We will be able to better enforce the illegal smuggling of drugs, mainly marijuana and methamphetamine across the borders. There will also be an exchange of information between the two jurisdictions on every other criminal activity that takes place between the borders."
Commissioner Neru says the Samoa Police have also joined with Customs and begun using sniffer dogs to detect drug smugglers.
