Petrol prices increase in American Samoa

Petrol prices at service stations in American Samoa are going up again this week based on the latest maximum allowable price or wholesale price released yesterday by the Office of Petroleum Management.

The OPM's Sione Kava says prices for all petroleum are going up again and the picture does not look good for local consumers.

For gasoline, Kava says there will be an increase of 5 US cents per gallon raising the average local gasoline price to about US$3.07 per gallon.

Despite the increase, Kava said America Samoa fares better than its Pacific neighbours whose petrol prices are much higher.
