Public health officials are visiting Fiji's western division communities to raise awareness about typhoid after a second death and four new cases at the weekend.
The typhoid outbreak, which had initially been contained to the northern division, has now claimed two lives and more than 80 people hae been infected through contaminated water and food.
The director of health in the western division, Dr Tui Taoi, says public health officials are on the ground to give advice to the affected communities.
"They have had to look at their septic tanks, which have been the main source of problem and an overflow of septic tanks during the recent rain and they have assisted them with supply of water [and told them] boil your water and wash your hands, to practise basic hygiene."
Dr Tui Taoi says the victims are to be released from hospital in the next few days.
