Test made by secondary school students in Fiji show water supply to five residential areas in the country's northern division are contaminated with the coliform typhoid bacteria.

The Fiji Times reports the probes were conducted by the students of the All Saints Secondary School on water samples collected from eight residential areas in the division.

The health department reportedly says although there are some weaknesses in the data, they will carry out a new test to confirm the students' results.
