Fiji will host the 2008 Oceania amateur boxing champs which will double as the Beijing olympic qualifiers.
Fiji earned the status at the Oceania Amateur Boxing association AGM at the weekend in Samoa.
Fiji boxing has assured the association fighters welfare will be paramount after questions were raised regarding the security of boxers and officials in light of the recent coup.
The Association has demanded Boxing Fiji report back within 90 days with an endorsement from the interim government it is capable of hosting next year's event.
