Samoa could be the next destination for Delta Air Lines, after the U.S. Department of Transportation granted the carrier a 'blanket open-skies authority' to operate between the U.S. and several foreign countries which have open sky agreements with the United States.

The department's decision would also grant Delta Air an authority to operate services to Tonga, New Zealand and Cook Islands.
