Fiji rugby concedes it got this year's Pacific Cup wrong

The Fiji Rugby High Performance Manager says a number of factors conspired in the disappointing performance of the local sides in the recently completed Pacific Rugby Cup.

Peter Murphy is preparing to oversee tomorrow's Fiji rugby trial from which a squad will be selected to contest its first game of the expanded Pacific Nations Cup against Samoa next weekend.

Murphy says its fair to say the Fiji Barbarians and Warriors under performed in the Pacific Cup but they did field even strength teams while Tonga and Samoa chose lop sided sides.

He says they tried players out of position, which didn't work, while the teams didn't follow the national training programme.
